For chief executives and boards
The Scale Readiness Assessment
Run so that every disagreement is voiced and settled on the evidence, and every executive leaves committed to a plan they argued for and will act on.
The question
The question every growth decision depends on.
A funding round, a hiring plan, a new market or an acquisition all rest on one assumption, that more money and people will produce more revenue, at the same cost or lower. The usual answer comes from board packs and forecasts.
Growth can be bought as well as earned. Discounts, and staff hired to keep customers who would otherwise leave. Each adds revenue this year. None shows whether the next customer can be won and kept at the same cost or less.
We answer it from records, against a fixed written standard. A measure is one figure from your records, compared with a bar.
The method draws on Revenue Arc’s B2B Scaling Study 2026, 186 B2B technology companies. 78 failed to scale and 108 scaled.
What we test
Four conditions of scale. All four must be in place at once. Three strong does not make up for a weak fourth.
Durability
Customers keep paying at the price they were sold (or more), and delivery costs no more per pound than three years ago.
Repeatability
The way the company wins customers works again, beyond the early sellers and without depending on a select group of senior people.
Compounding
Revenue from existing customers rises each year, and each new customer costs no more than the last.
Absorbable pace
The company grows no faster than it can hire, train and take on customers without quality falling.
One limit worth stating plainly
We do not read whether the market is large enough to carry the plan. That is not in the records. It is for the board.
Eight Scale Validations
The findings are also grouped into eight Scale Validations, each reading one part of the business. The Assessment shows each one that applies at your stage, they say what to fix and in what order, and they do not set the result.
Five stages of scaling
The records place the company at one of five stages. We set that beside the stage the company claims, from its own dated documents or the qualifying call, and where the two differ we name the difference.
What you receive
A written Assessment, and a review call to take you through it.
The result and the limiting conditions
One of three results on the first page, with the limiting conditions named beneath it.
What the result covers
Your records for the period on the cover, normally three financial years, and which way each condition was moving. It does not forecast.
Your stage
The stage your records support, beside the stage the company claims, from its own dated documents or the qualifying call.
Each condition in full
Strong, partial or weak, with the records that decided it and the figures for every year read.
The eight Scale Validations
A result for each one that applies at your stage, and the failure pattern behind any weak one.
The reliability of your own records
How many of the twelve measures your records could support, and whether billing agrees with your accounts.
A capital warning, where it applies
Stated when more than 40 per cent of new capital goes to sales hiring or marketing early.
Every evidence gap
Each record you could not produce, marked so a result that could not be measured does not corrupt the reading.
Every adverse finding
Each place the records show the opposite of what the company believes, with the record that shows it.
What to check first
The one record or question that settles the most, written as an action you can commission this week.
The work in order of priority
What to fix first and why, and a short list your team can start within a fortnight.
What it cannot tell you
Whether your executive team, shown the same evidence, would reach the same view.
There are no scores, and no recommendation to buy anything further from Revenue Arc. The work is yours, or any firm you choose. Every measure is recorded so it can be taken again a year later, measure by measure, bought separately.
Why you can rely on it
Records, not answers
Every result comes from exports of systems you already run. Nothing written for the assessment raises a result.
Every bar is labelled with its source
A named published source, the definition of scaling, or judgement, printed beside the number.
A bar set by judgement must be cleared by a stated margin
Independent
We recommend no Revenue Arc product in it, and set no follow-on work for ourselves.
What it gives each reader
The chief executive
A reading your board and investors can check figure by figure, not your own view.
The board
Built from records, not the management presentation, so the growth case is tested before capital goes in.
The finance lead
Every bar with its source, every figure with its record, and billing checked against the accounts.
How it runs
Before the call
We check from public records that the company is one the standard is built for, and tell you before you pay if it is not.
A thirty minute qualifying call
We confirm the decision you face and its date, and whether the records exist.
Ten working days to send an evidence pack
Records you already keep, listed in full on that call, before you pay. Nothing is created for the assessment.
The assessment
Every record is graded against the written standard, measure by measure, by the method the standard sets out.
The Scale Readiness Assessment
You receive it within 48 hours of your evidence pack being complete, and a review call within five working days. Allow about two and a half weeks from signature.
When it is not the right reading
No dated decision ahead
Take the free Scale Foundations Check, scored on the same four conditions.
You want your team to decide what to fund and what to stop
That is three days of work with your executive team, not a written reading.
The pair
Read the records. Then decide.
The Scale Readiness Assessment
Your commercial, operational and financial records, read against a fixed written standard. A written result, the conditions that limit the company, and what to fix first.
£19,500
plus VAT, fixed and payable on signature
The Strategy Offsite
Three days with your executive team, usually starting from the Assessment. The team converges on one understanding, decides the priorities and where the money goes, decides what needs to change and in what order, ownership, and dates.
Price available on request
The Assessment fee is credited in full if the Strategy Offsite is purchased within 90 days.
Who it is for
Who it is for.
Chief executives and boards of B2B companies with established revenue organisations, earning recurring revenue with or without services, selling direct through their own sales teams, and with a dated growth or investment decision ahead.
You are buying a fixed written standard applied to your systems and records, not consulting time. Your records are used only for this engagement and deleted afterwards.
Next step
Tell us the decision and its date. We will tell you whether the Assessment is the right reading.
Thirty minutes. Three questions. We reply within one working day.
